When an annoying wind starts to blow in San Teodoro, spending a day at the beach may not be so pleasant, unless you choose to go to the right beaches.<\/p>\n\n

Certainly we should not rely on chance. The risk is to get slapped by the sand or melt in the sun, since keeping the umbrella open could become more than dangerous. <\/p>\n\n

Here is the advice of our reference tourist guide <\/strong>, Angela Bacciu<\/strong>, who knows the area well and has identified the most sheltered beaches, even in the event of mistral or sirocco.<\/p>\n\n

In the meantime, let’s learn to recognize the most annoying winds. The mistral<\/strong>, also known as the mainsail, is cold and often a bit violent, and blows from the northwest. When it begins to blow it is better to resign oneself: it will continue to do so for another two or three days. The sirocco<\/strong>, on the other hand, is warm and comes from the south-east. In both cases, it is best to keep away from the most exposed beaches and very fine sand. It is therefore better to stay away from La Cinta. <\/p>\n\n

The most suitable beaches in San Teodoro where to go in case of wind are Le Farfalle<\/strong>, or the beach of Cala Suaraccia, Punta Est<\/strong>, Cala Brandinchi<\/strong> but above all the beach of Capo Coda Cavallo<\/strong>, sheltered by the granite promontory that gives it its name.<\/p>\n\n

A curiosity about the sirocco: when it is about to arrive, an immense hat appears on Tavolara<\/strong> . As Meteo Sardegna<\/a> explains, a large cloud forms above the top of the island due to the arrival of the sirocco which, blowing on the surface of the sea, is charged with moisture and, once it collides with the mountainous relief, runs along the slope, cooling at the tip and creating a characteristic cloud. <\/p>\n\n
